Confused

Yestereday was an odd day for me. The teachers at the school were being quiet mean and rude to me and the children. They yelled at Drake for asking him if they could open something for him. I think that with children with special needs you should have patiences but they have none. They also gossip a lot about other teachers. Yesterday made me realize that I might not want to be a teacher because I do not want to come back to the drama of school and even the teachers have drama in their jobs. I know that every job has drama but I think that the things that were said yesterday were very unprofessional.

No sympathy

Yesterday just like every other day we go to the elementry school I was beyond excited to see my little ones. I went to the cafeteria and was nearly ambushed by them. While we were eating Gavin began to make fun of Drake. Drake came up to Mrs. Dawn and me and told us what happened. Mrs. Dawn told him to "man up" and go sit down. I just wanted to hug him but I guess sometimes you have to be hard on them!

A change for the better

Yesterday was our fourth trip to the elementary school and it was by far the best. At first I thought it was going to be a boring trip because Mrs. Bogle was not there but it turned out to be a good thing. Since Mrs.Bogle was not there I got to go spend the day with the Special Education class room. I loved it. The kids in there were so sweet and happy! The teachers were also very kind and I loved the way they made things work. The classroom had a side for the younger kids and the older kids! Both sides were quiet interesting and I loved being with them. When I was walking back from lunch a little girl named Kristina held my hand on the way back. Mrs. Jarrell must have seen how much I loved being around them because she said that I could make that my classroom instead! I love my new class!

ATTENTION ATTENTION

Yesterday was my third trip to the elementary school and I made a lot of inferences. I noticed that the girls seemed to pay more attention then the boys. The boys were very restless and talkative. Some were a little behind and needed help keeping up with the others. One little girl whose name was Jaelyn was very far ahead of the game. Her pen men ship was great and her vocabulary was amazing for her age! Yesterday was probably the most enriching time I went ! I learned a lot and had a great time learning!

A new chapter.

When I got to the bus I was so excited to go on my second trip to the west Hancock elementary. When we arrived I had received terrible news that Mrs. Rhonda had been in a car accident. I was really upset when I heard this news not only because she was hurt but, I would not get to have the same experience as I thought I would. Since the whole fourth grade was on a field trip I could not even go into the classroom so Mrs. Jarrell took us to the library to see the way the kids interact there. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by my old librarian Mrs. Bogle. To my surprise, she remembered me. Mrs. Jarrell told her the situation and before I knew it Mrs. Bogle said she wanted me as her helper! The library was filled with children running around to find a book. I loved it. It was a hectic environment at the time but as time went on things settled down. She had not changed much since I was one of those little ones running around. After a million questions she finally got some time to tell me what I had to do. I had to get books off the shelf look them up to see if they were AR books. If the books were AR books I had to write the quiz number, book level, and amount of point that were available on the quiz. It was a tedious process. I did this till I left and when I did she said she was happy to have me. I am a little nervous about this library thing. I hope there is more excitement but at least I get to see the things that are involved with being the librarian.

First day in the field!

First day in the field of teaching was a success! Walking into that school just nerve racking! I was so nervous about my first day of being a student teacher helper but as soon as I got to my classroom and met my teacher I realized it was going to be okay. Mrs. Rhonda was very welcoming! She did everything she could to help fill me in on what I would be helping her with. I could tell that she was a very organized but effective teacher. The kids came in a immediately took out the work and began their bell work, as they did that I graded papers. Instead of everyone talking when she asked yes or no questions they used a thumbs up or thumbs down system! The room was highly decorated with all kinds of posters and art. The majority of the class was boys. I had a great time in my class and can not wait until next week! Miss. Martin is ready to succeed in the fourth grade class room!
